Displacement is how far you are from some origin point. The difference between displacement and distance is if you were to walk 10 meters to the right and then 10 meters back to your starting point, you would cover a distance of 20 meters but your displacement would be 0 meters. That is because you haven't moved at all from the "origin."

Speed is how much distance you cover in a given amount of time. Like miles per hour.

Velocity is similar to speed, only it has a directional component. You must define one direction to be positive velocity, and one direction to be negative velocity.

If I define right to be positive and left to be negative, then 10 mph to the right would be 10 mph, but 10 mph to the left could be expressed simply as -10mph. Speed is the absolute value of velocity; it can never be negative.

Displacement is the change in your position. If I move forward 10 ft, then that is my displacement. Technically, displacement also includes directions, so moving north 10 ft is not the same as moving south 10 ft.

Velocity is the change in position over the amount of time that change in position takes. It is a lot like speed, except for that it also includes direction. So your speed might be 10 mph, but your velocity would be 10 mph northwest.

Acceleration is the change in your velocity over time. It includes speeding up or slowing down, but it also includes changing direction. Since the direction you're moving in is part of your velocity, turning is accelerating. When you're direction is changing, your velocity is changing, which means that you are accelerating. Hitting the gas pedal in your car, slamming on the breaks, and going around a corner are all examples of acceleration.

Displacement is a vector that tells you how far and in what direction you have traveled. Velocity is defined the change in displacement during a certain amount of time. Velocity is also a vector at it contains how much displacement has changed and in what direction it has changed. Speed is the scalar of velocity, meaning it only tells you how much displacement has changed, direction does not matter.

speed is almost the samething as velocity BUT velocity has a direction, and displacement is how far your starting point is from ur ending point. distance is the total ammount you traveld, i am in grade 10 and i have taken gr 10 academic science last semester, i dont have my notes with me but if i remember correctly that should be correct, if i am wrong, please correct me anyone. if your having trouble look it up on wikipedia.org because that website can tell you loads of information u never knew existed
