i have aways thought ordinary people were not given the chance to prove what they can do to really determine who a genius is you would have to start taking the intelligence of children seriously and start teaching them what is taught in universities and else where physics university level, pholosophy, politics, how to make political speeches, write books, plays, direct films, publish books, build computers, design clothes, prepare and cook fine foods, vote in elections

Anyone can be "GREAT". I believe that any ordinary person can be great. The question I would pose back to you is- are you asking about greatness or popularity.
Einstein was a genius and this made him popular which to some would mean great. I for one, believe there is a huge difference.
It's kind of like- the smallest act of kindness is better than the greatest intention. Hence, you can be great by the smallest act of kindness due to it's rarity or you can sit around saying things like, "If I had a million dollars, I could do a lot of good in the world." The later would be neither great but is definitely popular as it seems to be the norm for most.

--AS TO GREATNESS , because indeed Jesus man not a god-man there is no question that nobody could come close to this persons true greatness.
--NO MATTER what he would have pursued it would have been the ultimate of greatness!
*** gt The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived
The historian H. G. Wells said that a man’s greatness can be measured by ‘what he leaves to grow, and whether he started others to think along fresh lines with a vigor that persisted after him.’ Wells, although not claiming to be a Christian, acknowledged: “By this test Jesus stands first"
***A HISTORICAL PERSON:
The respected historian Will Durant argued: “That a few simple men should in one generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle far more incredible than any recorded in the Gospels.”
--PLEASE KEEP in mind that Jesus had to work to develope his greatness, despite being perfect. REMEMBER how is enemies attacked every vestage of his person!

What makes someone great are their deeds !! What did they do for humanity ??? You don't have to be a genius !! You have to get involved with your community make a stand for what you believe in !! Einstein had thoughts that at the time were thought of as revolutionary and some others thought were ridiculous !! But he didn't back down on his beliefs !!

Great is in the eyes of the beholder. I don't think any of the movie celebs are great and yet they are all over the covers of the magazines. Great is what you value in life. Einstein was considered great because he discovered something that had a great effect on mankind. But great to me would be a kind loving person who cared about me,a good mom and dad, good people all the way around, and mostly an honest person

A lot of people have different answers to that question. If I were to answer this question, which I will, then I would say: Honest, comfortable with people, outgoing... and this does not mean you HAVE to be these to be great. I really admire Einstein, and the reason I do is because he really thought of things that I could never, ever think of. For example, wormholes. How did he EVER think of wormholes in the universe? Anybody could do this and be great if they depend on God, their friends, and their family.

Greatness is about the person's outlook on life. How they view the things of the world and then how they react to them. I happen to think that C.S. Lewis is "great" because he understood life and his purpose in the world. He is also great because he kept his eyes past the world because he knew there was more. Greatness is different to everyone. And I think that a lot of it has to do with what each individual person wishes they were more like. Like I said, I think C.S. Lewis is great and part of it is also because I wish that I was more like him and I possesed the qualities that make him different. You can't be just like everyone else AND be great.

well you'd need to be curious and motivated. being smart is not enough to be great. also you'd have to find your own definition of great. is it being remembered in history? is it making a significant change in the world? is it helping others? what determines greatness? then you can decide if you can do it.
