The separate lot is as far from the building as possible. The company claims that this is to prevent passers-by from seeing non GM vehicles in the GM lot, however the lot is right by the road that runs in front of the plant! GM vehicles assembled in foreign countries do not have to park in the separate lot. American made cars made by UAW members at Ford and Chrysler must park in the separate lot.
This plant does their mowing with a Ford tractor, and hauls their products to and from the plant in Volvo semis.

I've head of this ploy. It seems petty to me. If they want you to drive only GM vehicles, I'd suggest they give you one--or make them so desirable that you wouldn't even consider buying anything else. I've heard that they give their company execs. GM cars. As for vehicles assembled with exploited cheap labor overseas--why should any red-blooded American support those off-shore factories and out-sourced jobs?

Perhaps I'm biased because I, many years ago, had a really third rate GM wagon. Since then I've avoided GM like the plague. And GM execs have only themselves to blame, not the workers.

I actually think that's pretty standard for the big three. My fiance works at Chrysler and he wasn't able to park in the close lot once 'cause he borrowed my Ford truck. Luckily he normally drives a Cherokee and is allowed to park near the building.

They probably want to not only look to the public like everyone there drives their vehicles, they also want to encourage their employees to support the company by driving their vehicles.

They've got the right, but sounds like desperation to me. Toyota plants in Japan, don't have such a rule, because no Toyota employee in his right mind would want to own an unreliable, poor quality, over priced Ford or GM car.

you're inaccurate. You anticipate instructors deliver their young ones to private college simply by training. for many, that is a non secular or societal reason I easily have been a member of NEA considering i began out coaching 17 years in the past. I help college vouchers. If I had toddlers and could desire to locate the money for it....i could a million) abode college or 2) deliver to private college. not simply by fact i think of the educational won in a public college is inferior, yet simply by fact i think of the the society of youngsters are. I see how the youngsters communicate, how they handle one yet another and their terrible manners each and daily. If I had young ones, i does not prefer them in that ecosystem. i've got taught 17 years. elementary college length of 60 instructors. i've got under no circumstances elementary a single instructor who sent their newborn to a private college. Meethinks your information is fake. Please point out what number public college instructors you be conscious of who've toddlers in inner maximum college. i think of the study is fallacious. look heavily on the object. It mentions cities with very lively gang populations. i don't blame everyone who needs to look after their newborn from that. why could you?

No different than a clothing store requiring their sales people to wear their brand of clothing. It's all about image.

Parking in a different lot is not the end of the world.

It is a little ridiculous. I work at a clothing store and it would be like saying I could only wear clothes from there. But I guess a little exercise never hurt anybody.

That might explain why GM's profits fell 90%.

If they treat their employee's like crap, how do you think they treat their customers.

If GM provides them with a vehicle it is okay though.

If GM wants their employees to have GM cars, then they should give them one.
