String a clothes line above the food or gift table. Have everyone bring one unwrapped layette item (in addition to their shower gift.) This can range from bibs to onsies to sleepers etc. When guests get to your house give them clothespins to hang the items on the line. It is an instant decoration and the tiny clothes are sooo cute to look at and women ohh and ahh over what they bought (at least they did at my shower!) It also helps you prepare for all the layette suff you need!
Good gifts:
Bumbo seat
Rainforest Jumperoo
Skip Hop bottle drying rack
wipes warmer
diaper champ
pottery barn baby crib sheets (the chenile like ones are the best)
Baby socks from Hanna Anderson (there is a website- the only socks that actually stay on my son's feet- worth the money!)

A few good games are having the guests cut a piece of ribbon they think will be the circumferance of the mama's belly. Quite funny when mama is 42" around and some are 60"+. Closest one wins
Another is to pass out closepins or diaper pins for everyone to wear. Anyone that says the word "baby" forfeits their pin to whomever called them on it. Whoever has the most pins wins
Another is having a bowl of rice with small safety pins in it. Each person has one/two minutes blindflolded to pick out as many pins as they can (harder than it sounds). Whover has the most wins
One game, not at my shower but could be fun is if you have the baby's name already is to have a contest where they need to spell out words using his full name. Again the most wins.

great gifts are what tehe mama needs, from large purchases like stroller to small purhcases baby med kit, diapers, diaper bag, recieving blanket etc...Best if she is registered if not it doesn't hurt to ask what she needs she may be grateful for the inquiry

I found this website for you. There are some great party games for a baby shower with instructions on how to play them.

Here is the gift I give at a Baby Shower.

A New Mommy Gift of Lingerie!

I buy the new mommy a nice nightgown for her to wear in the hospital. You can add toiletries or slippers to this gift if you like.

I have been giving this kind of gift for 30 years and it is always appreciated by the new mom

Maybe play a baby guessing game before opening the gifts, like, maybe you shake the gift and try to guess what it is before you open it.
Gifts for a baby shower, you can never have too many diapers, wipes, clothing and bedroom decor, maybe some nice teddy bears or a newborn bath set.

The New Parents Game
Before the shower, ask the mom- and dad-to-be questions such as, "When is your birthday?" "Where were you born?" Divide the guests into tow teams, the "pink" team and the "blue" team. Pink team answers questions about the mm, blue answers questions about the dad. Correct answer earns 1 point. The team with the most points wins.
------------------------------...
Word Play
The mom-to-be will soon have old parenting adages like "Because I said so!" rolling off her tongue. Come up with a list of other sayings and make them into acronyms (for example MDGOT! {Money Doesn't Grow On Trees!}). Quickest answerer gets a point, most point wins (or alternate scoring, everyone writes down guesses and most right at the end wins).
------------------------------...
What's in the Bag?
Place several baby-related items (for example, bottle, rattle, pacifier) into separate brown paper bags. Staple the bags closed and number them. Players may shake, but not squeeze, the bags to determine what's inside. The player who gets the most right wins.
------------------------------...
Rock-a-Baby
Divide guests into teams and challenge each team to write new lyrics to the tune of a familiar lullaby. Provide each team with a tape recorder or CD player, pen, and paper. When finished creating new lyrics, each team performs its song for the mom-to-be. Award prizes for the funniest lyrics, the best performance, and so on.
------------------------------...
Good gifts (i.e. game prizes) include candles, lotions, gift cards, picture frames.

best thing I have is a Bumbo Baby seat. You can get them at terget and online. I LOVE MINE!!! You can sit a baby in it as soon as they have good head control (about 3 months) and they love it. It is easy to keep clean, can be used to feed a baby before they are big enough to a high chair, and is extreemly light so easy to travel with. My son is 9 months old and I have used it at least 3 times a day since he was 3 months old- it is a life saver and I think every mom should have one.
