I’m doing a project abut Turquie and I want to know how would you feel if they become part of the European Union? Why do you feel that way? Your opinion will be really helpful. Thanks

I think Turkey could offer alot to the EU. It is an amazing country with a wonderful history. Look up Atta Turk - The father of the modern Turkish state.

Turkey also has a very young population - unlike most of Europe which has an ageing population. I believe that if Turkey goes on the way it is at the moment and carries on making improvements - its still got a way to go with human rights and some internal problems - it will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

But I do not think that the EU would be good for Turkey. Other countries who have joined the EU have found that prices have risen dramatically and that they have had to deal with cheap imports etc that they now can't control. This has led to higher unemployment and the losing of some of the things and customs that have made that country special.

No objection so long as Turkey remains a democracy and free of Islamists and any other religious mob. The Turks are dealing with this question as we speak.

In a free democracy, secularism is of paramount importance. No religious group should ever be allowed to hold the upper hand and have power over the people.

The route to freedom, liberty and democracy is via the secularist way. All citizens are free to worship as they see fit but not to force their religious beliefs upon others.

In a democracy, it is the duty of the opposition to plot, by democratic means, the downfall of the government. It is not their duty to set fire to the government, but this would have happened had the religious nutters taken over in Turkey.

God save Turkey, God save the Turkish people. Long live etc.

Not sure Turkey is ready for Europe or more precisely whether Europe is ready for Turkey.
The cultural and economic differences are really too diverse at the moment. Think Turkey has a lot more to do regarding Human Rights and many more political areas.

Turkey is a muslim dominated secular country. It is not industrially advanced as US or UK.Technicians and scientists are mostly from other countries. They are facing identity crisis, while they are not considered as Europeans or Asians.Currency of Turkey is not strong. It has not much in common with other countries of European Union. There is not much gain or loss if Turkey is made a member of EU.

I would support Turkey joining the EU if it stays secular. I'm concerned about the influence of radical Islamics in Ankara
