i got this from a website somewhere a loong time ago, but here is a really funny way to start it off. "Minnesota, home of 1,000 lakes and 1,000,000,000 mosquitoes."

There are several ways to begin your report, but I would start out simple by Introducing Minnesota to your readers telling them "Minnesota is the 32nd state, joining the statehood in 1858 and is located in the north central part of the United States".

Do a quick summary of the state, summarizing all the natural beauties of the state.
i won't write one for you, but here's an example of a sentence for the US.

The United States, a country with a heterogeneous population and home to a many number of different ecosystems and a flourishing economy.

good luck.
