Since al queerda has "hijacked" islam, and since it is a peaceful religion, there should be a refutation of al-zawaqueery' latest rant, right?
Some respected cleric or theologian should be forthcoming with a scholarly refutation immediately, right?
It should be easy to do, if indeed terrorists are preaching an invalid or heretical brand of islam. Right?

I agree. I find it very disturbing that more Muslims do not speak out against the extremists. I can understand that many of them are afraid of the extremists but if they really believed what the extremists were doing was wrong, wouldn't they feel obligated to stand up against them?
