The SAT is a reasoning test, almost like an inteligence test which tests what you learn in high school. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.

Let me berak it down for you..The SAT is a 3 hr 45 min mostly multiple choice standardized test which attempts to measure potential for college success. There are 161 multiple choice questions = 54 math, 68 verbal, 49 grammar. The SAT also contains 10 math questions which require test-takers to grid-in an answer and a 25 min essay. There are seven 25 minute sections, two 20-minute and one 10 min sections on the SAT (ten total).

The SAT is the scholastic aptitude test which is administered by the college board (www.collegeboard.com) through the education testing service (ETS). The reasoning test is 3 hrs and 45 min long and consists of a writing (grammar and essay), a reading (passages), and a math section. Most colleges require either SAT or ACT (english, writing, math, and science sections [i believe it's shorter and easier as well]) scores. The max points for the SAT reasoning is 2400. 800 on each section.
Now the SAT subject tests are a bit different. You can take up to 3 per test date in more specific subject areas such as Math (Level 1, Level 2), Biology, Chemistry, World History, Literature, Spanish (w/ listening only on November test date), French (listening in Nov.). 800 is the max amount of points for each test as well and many colleges now require 2 subject test scores to be sent to them. I highly suggest going to www.collegeboard.com and downloading the pdf of the SAT subject tests preparation booklet.

The SAT is a standardized test for college admissions. There are two types the Reasoning which you have to take if you want to get into college and the Subject tests which are voluntary but if you want to get in to a private school you would need to take 2 subject tests along with the reasoning test.

Tests to see who can most accurately do math as well as comprehend the English language. They are a terrible waste to time, and do not show, desire, intent, commitment to education or mental state of those taking it.
