does anyone honestly think that Americans are ready for a black president without being hypocritical
we all know racism still prevails even in the 21st century in the good'ole US of A
and we all say we should judge people thru their credentials but not for the color of their skin
but hey in reality i think many of us wouldnt accept a black president ( if ever it happens)

Colin Powell would have been perfect.
Colin Powell and Condoliza Rice would be a good running mates for the Republican party.

Why wouldn't we? Sure racism is still much alive and kicking but if someone is going to run our country and make it better and prosperous and put back together all the pieces that Bush jacked up color would be the last thing i would be worry about. And if that is what alot of people are basing the bettering of our country than they need a reality check. There are far greater problems in the world than worrying about someone's color running our country, that just sounds very childish!

Put it this way -- I think Colin Powell could have won the Presidency in 1996 or 2000.
In fact, if he had run for the '08 nomination he'd be a strong contender, although he has some baggage from the Iraq war. Still, he'd clearly stand out from the rest of the Republican field.

already they have requested Secret Service protection.. I am sorry to say i fear thats its possible that Mr Obama is probably not going to be around long enough to become our president, there are far too many nuts and racists, and sadly if he does make it into the white house I seriously have fears that he will not make it out alive. a lot of crazy people are not going to allow america to be ready

I don't have a problem with a black president, but I do have a problem if his religion is Islam. The senator that's running for the president, Obama religion is Islam..
Stop and think America Do we want a president whose religion is Islam?

I like to think that he could be president but the GOOD OLE BOYS from were ever wont let it happen. and if it does I truly fear for his safety.
