I bought two lots. One to build on.
the other for my parents, who were almost ready to retire, to build on.
My mother said she would not build unless she owned the lot. So we sold it to her for $1.
The next day, she had a for sale sign put up on the lot. We called, asked why? She said she was selling it. Refused to sell it back to us.
The lot did not sell, she did not pay the property taxes. A redneck from hell got the lot for proterty taxes only. He lived next to us for 10 LONG years. Then he sold and moved.

I'm a pretty lucky person, and I haven't had anything devastating happen, but I had to move in the middle of high school, from a small private school to a large public one, and now that I'm finally confartable again, I most likely have to move again, this time across the country, instead of across the city....
