i have a real hard time believing that there is anything that is purely organic. I thought i was raising organic veggies, then i stopped and though. the cow manure i put on it came from a cow that recieved vacinations and wormers (no hormones), the chicken litter was alright i think, and the cotton seed meal came from cotton that was surely fertilized with petro. byproduct, insectacide, herbacide, and who knows what else, and the seed that was planted had been treated to germinate better. hmmm, should have used good old 10-20-10 and ammonia nitrate. organic veggies are more expensive and their not as perfect looking as nonorganic veggies. your going to have spots, bug bites, ground in dirt, and other imperfections. you really want to avoid anything with the hormones though. have you ever wondered why little girls are starting to have their periods at 9 and 10 now, or why there has been and major surge in autism in the last 20 ro 30 years. thats about how long we've been putting hormones in our slaughter calves. thats why me and my family raise our own meat, especially chicken and beef.

Organic food is more expensive. African countries don't have a shortage of food - they have a shortage of good government. They don't need to import food right now, but they do because of poverty, disease, corrupt government, and constant warfare. They have the capacity to grow their own food, but they're not doing it. 'Organic farming' isn't going to change the socioeconomic, cultural, and political factors that contribute to Africa's impoverished state. And those pesticides that the article discussed are CRUCIAL.

I don't eat organic food because the results are negligible and the cost is more than I can afford. I eat regular fruits and vegetables and I'm very healthy. I've tried organic everything, and I don't find the taste/quality amazing enough to justify the added expense. If it's a luxury that you can include in your monthly budget, then go ahead, but it's just not practical for most people.

Some of you can criticize the chemicals in food, but those chemicals are what allow food to be distributed in larger and more reliable numbers around the globe. Those chemicals prevent people from going hungry or dying of many diseases. Complain about them all you want, but that science is life saving.

One reason someone wouldn't prefer organic food is because in many cases the benefit is unsupported or just isn't there. Also organic food tends to be more expensive and not as widely available. Without science supporting the benefits, many people just don't see the value in it!

Maybe if there was more consumption of organic foods the population of America would become LESS "wide-spread".
I'm all for it.

I have no faith that just because a food is labeled "organic" it really is "organic."
