I have 2 bloodfins (and other types of fish). 1 is fine, but the other isn't. He can't seem to swim properly, and when he does swim, he swims on his side or upside-down. When I look at him, he looks fine, except that his head is greenish, instead of silver. His gills also seem to be very red, and I don't know if his gills are normal, because I can't see my other bloodfin's, because I can't see the bottom of him. I removed the sick bloodfin from my main tank, and am keeping a close watch on him. What is wrong???

Does he seem to be having trouble maintaining his position in the water? This sounds like he's got a swim bladder problem. There could be a couple of things that could cause this, but the simplest is his food, especially if he gets dry flakes or pellets. Try moistening his food with a little water from the tank before you feed the fish, or feeding him a bit of a mashed cooked pea. If this doesn't resolve in a few days, you may need to treat for a bacterial infection. See swim bladder disorder at this website: http://www.fish-disease.net/diseases.htm

Hello..you need to take the sick fish & a water sample from the tank..to a FISH store, where they sell fish..they have all kinds of meds & additives for the water to help, but they need the sample of water to know what is needed & to see the fish that's sick when possible, often just the water sample alone will tell them what is wrong & what can fix it, if anything can, probably too late for the one that's sick ..but not for the rest !! Take Care :)
