so does it become more brittle when put in a freezer or what?

No, but the thermal shock of being exposed to the room temperature when taken out can break the glass since it is basically brittle. Glass is a supercooled liquid and is stressed. Also microcracks are present on the surface and they add to crack propagation. Tempered glass is better in this regard and you can put it in the freezer or put it on the kettle without breakage.

Yes. Don't put bottles of liquid in the freezer! How fast it takes them to break depends on their thickness.

depends on the type of glass. so get harder some get soft some get brittle.
