i hate sharing my computer. Even though its only me and my dad, im always jealous that other people my age (14) have their own PC's. I dont want to waste any of my dads money on getting a new one. And paying more money for the internet bill. What do i do?

Stop being jealous, I know lots of families with 3,4 and more kids that only have 1 computer for everyone.

And I dont know alot of 14 year olds who have there own computers, especial good ones.

You can get a part time after school job and start saving, you should have enough in a few months to get a good one.

I don't know your dad's financial situation to say whether he is being unfair to you and not providing your own PC. This is something you need to consider before considering him unfair. It may be a situation that is out of his control and he may very well want you to have one, but can't afford it.

As for the internet bill, there are ISPs that do provide fee internet service. However, you may get the service for fee, but you may be wracking up huge long distance phone bills as the trade off. This will probably cost more in the long run. Try to see if there is WiFi your city that is available to the public for free. Or see if you can get something through the public schools or local community college to access the internet.

As another consideration, perhaps your dad wants control over your internet access since there are a lot of people out there who have an intent of doing you harm and this is your dad's way of protecting you. This should be a trait to be admired of your dad if this is the case. It shows that he cares.

i hate to say this but the less you use a computer the better in your age. right now there are arguments that unrestricted use of computer can cause major mental problems in later age.

next time that you want to use your computer plan to stay on for 30min and see how long you actually sit ;) you will know what i mean by then

besides sharing a computer is not that bad. I always share computers, home, work, friend's houses. it is nothing to be ashamed of.

write a letter into your local council, saying that you need a computer to do your school work, also that you feel left out as all your class mates have one, they might offer you a grant, or go on eBay, you can pick them up very cheap, hope that help, good luck.

Is it that, or is it that your dad might see the stuff you do online and you don't want to get caught?
