this saying is a teaching tool to teach patience and perseverance to achieve goals that take time to develop and involve frustration, setbacks and sacrifices along the way
I wish it were a magic mantra that worked all the time but it isn't
Sometimes bad things come to people that wait and good things happen to people that take short cuts and don't wait
After college I waited to get more education and supported my wife while she started and completed a PhD. program. I then went back to school in a field I would never had thought of 10 years earlier. I love what I do and I'm glad I waited for it to come to me.
I also bought a house on impulse and I love it and it is worth way more now than what a paid for it.
just do what you feel you need to and take good advice from people you trust.

I think it's true in the sense that patience will usually get you what you want.
However, just "waiting" isn't enough. You have to take steps to make it happen.
For example, it took patience for me to find a job that I enjoyed. If I had given up and just taken any job, I would probably hate it. But I didn't get the job by sitting around watching TV. I looked through ads, sent out applications, went to interviews, and made it happen.
Still waiting for: Probably the same as everyone--that special someone.

Yes, I think it's true.
For example, people that save themselves until they're married to have sex end up having a much better physical relationship.
But this is just personal experience, I'm no expert.
For an example that's less likely to offend people, doesn't it feel great when you've been craving cheesecake or whatever for a long time, but you wait for it... And then you get it... And it tastes so awesome?
Kinda like, if you eat something too much, no matter how much you like it, you'll end up despising it.
Can you tell I'm hungry?

I believe its true.
It doesn't literally mean "wait", but it means to have the patience to wait for the right thing, not to accept the first thing that comes along that is like, or close to, what you want, and settle for it.
When I was young a lot of my classmates were taking paino lessons. I took them, too. They were going to this teacher that taught them pieces of music...within the first month they were playing popular pieces. My piano teacher, on the other hand, insisted that I learn theory and timing, and to read music well before she ever gave me a piece of music. At the time, I wondered if it was worth it...my classmates were already playing music! Years later, as I played at a friends party, someone I had gone to school with sat by the piano and actually complimented me on my ability. I told him that I had always admired the way he played and asked him to play. He said, no...when I asked why he told me he couldn't read music and everyone already knew all the songs he played. Waiting turned out to be a good thing.

Good things come to people who get up and go find them. I waited 26 years for true love and never found it until I went looking and took the initiative

Hi!
Every day more and more I'm convinced that this is true...you never know what is best for you...and sometimes waiting something (ex. to get a job , bff ) makes you feel angry with life and everything.
But every time we fall we make something useful that we will need in future.
So patience is a crucial key of finding the true path of life journey.

Any issue of truth can be determined by looking for evidence for both sides of the equation.
If you are in a marathon and you wait, you lose. Good things comes to the winner of the marathon.
If you wait to save for your retirement, you will be poor and unable to support yourself.
If you wait to do home work, tasks, employment tasks, you will quickly find that good things do not come to you.
Arguably, it is neither true, nor false. Or, true and false.
