What is emo?

what is emo anyway? i mean all my friends call me emo because i love the colour black, i think some emo guys are cute, i listen to my chemcial romance, and a bunch of other things, so does that make me emo?? help!

also i like the clothing and the hair they have, i love dots and strips and converse, my shy and very quiet, not really what you would consider happy but..w/e

Maybe.Well, just because you "act" like emo,doesn't mean that you "are"emo.Emos are actually depressed, and unhappy.They listen to emo musics,of course.Many of them dye their hair in black or dark brown.They love to write poems.One time,this one emo girl in my school wrote a poem about death and suicide.She does that whenever she's alone.Remember emos are emotional.Well,you still can be happy even if you are emo.
But in my view,almost all emos are somehow depressed.
Don't slit your wrist if you are an emo!
Oh,remember.Some people hate emo kids.

Emo is a label given to that emotional music such as our favorite band mcr. Emo is sort of the new goth. It doesn't have a clear definition, but some people precieve it as whiny and immature, and think that all emo kids are suicidal or cutters and death obsessed people with black hair writing poetry in the basement. Don't worry about it, kid. Wear what you want, like who you want, listen to what you want. Don't let labels get ya down.

not exactly . just because you listen to that kind of music and wear the color black doesn't mean your emo. i like those same exact things (especially the emo boys!!!!) but i am not emo. if you do wanna be emo knock yourself out! LOL

my daughter says its another term for the "goth" or gothic look ie dressing in black, subbdued or dark appearance . neither she nor i know the relationship between emo and gothic don't know if you are emo but black being your favorite color would be one of the symptoms

where i live its not if your wear black its if your attitude is out of it and listen to punk emo stuff and your a skater and like certain clothes lots of checkered stuff. i love black clothes that mostely wat i wear but they call me a gothic does it make me one?
