My hamster keeps bitting on the bars on his cage. He is missing fur on his forehead and he has a sore on his lip. Can you please tell me what is wrong with him.

Does your hamster have a block of wood to chew in his cage? These guys have teeth that grow throughout their lives and they need to constantly chew to keep them trimmed back. If they get too long, it can keep them from feeding properly, and they can die. So your hamster is just doing what comes naturally to him.

As far as the missing fur, if he's roughened the wire ir plastic coating of his cage bars, he may have scraped it off while trying to chew. If there's another hamster in the cage with him, they may have been fighting.

He needs some chew toys, and hamsters will always try to find ways to escape so it is normal. I would invest in a cage with no wires I had one and it was great. Also, do you have a dwarf hamster? Those hamsters always chew on the bars to try to escape. I would get a plastic cage with no wires. Hope I helped!

the hair has been pusshed aside or did fall out it will grow back and his lip will heal but DO NOT think about getting him a plastic cage they are really bad for hamsters

He's bored. If you spray the bars with bitter apple spray then he should stop or you can get him a bigger cage or put something new in his cage like a see-saw etc.
