Yes it does, as its a type of page in itself. add yahoo tools for a perfectly acceptable pop-up blocker, or better still get a decent security software blocker installed, like Norton Internet security. Pop ups can be added to hacked sites and used as a re-direct, and if you are on dial up They can even switch your line to a premium rate number, without you knowing. after you have clicked to close the pop, it re-directs in the background. This has led to some isp's putting a price cap on premium rate numbers. This way if you want to dial a premium rate you have to manually turn off the dial up cap.
So they can be expensive, as well as unpleasant.

Yes, popups count and will go into your history. Some websites are now loading porn sites without actually popping up a page at all. But, it also shows in your history.

If someone is telling you that the "porn history" is because pop ups, they probably did one of the following:

1) They were actually visiting porn sites

2) They were visiting sites (warez, illegal torrents, etc...) that also seem to be a popular for porn.

The usual Internet sites (newspapers, tech reviews, non-porn forums, etc...) tend to avoid porn content/links.
