One of the great humanitarians scandals of the 20th and 21st centuries is the it hasn't ended but continues to go on. In areas like Somalia and the Sudan/Darfur, slavery is just as alive today as it was three hundred and four hundred years ago. For awhile some well-meaning groups in the USA tried to buy the freedom of these slaves, but what ended up happening is they actually just encouraged it by providing a market for selling slaves. I think this is one of the most tragic manifestations of Islam, that they are the true foundation of the entire slave trade. For the past one hundred years the USA has tried to make it a cause for guilt, but as usual, we want to be number one, even in our apologies, when in fact what is needed is truth, and the USA isn't a key player in the slave trade, Islam and Africans are.

Agreed - it still goes on. And they are exporting slaves still to Arabia and Borneo.
