Anxiety is a very real and serious condition. It can be extremely debilitating and scary for the sufferer. Definitely talk to your doctor and you parents about getting some help. It is your docs job to help you feel better and he should be open to discussing your options...if he isn't then talk to your parents about seeing a new one until you get one that will help you. I too have anxiety and know how you feel...and it's more than likely the anxiety itself that is making you feel scared about asking your doctor for help...that to me is a clear sign that you do need the help. So talk to mom or dad about how you're feeling or even a school nurse. Good luck and please talk to someone...I suffered with it for much longer then i should have because I was too anxious to even go to the doctors. Take care!

14 seems a bit young to be taking anxiety meds but if you really think that they will help then you should suggest it to your doctor when you can.
Don't feel worried about bringing it up. Your doctor is not here to humiliate you; s/he's going to want the best for you, so bring it up and they should give some advice. Even if you don't get put on meds there may be other forms of treatment or therapy that can help the situation.
You'll never know unless you try - and you have nothing to lose! Go ahead and ask. :)

You must talk to your Parents and your Doctor ,this is a Panic Anxiety Syndrome, which is very distressing. Are you under pressure at school ?Are you tired ,how long do you study ? Do not overdo it.! Make sure you get plenty of sleep.Eat a proper diet at home ! This can be cured ,don't let people pressure you into things you can't cope with.Do you have any family worries ,often this kind of situation can be triggered by personal ,school, work worries You need to confide in your Parents. It is your doctors job to help you .Do not take any medication that hasn't been prescribed for you.If you need to talk e mail me .Do not worry,or try hard not to worry ,if you are unhappy voice it, don't repress your feelings.

you are not too young. you just have to be on the right dose, and Xanax/Benzodiazepines do work really great..just fallow your doctors orders, and make sure to tell your doctor all the reasons you suggest taking a medication, and if something bad happened to you in the past or recently tell your doctor that too... hope you feel better

Mike,
I think you should see the doctor, because I dont think it will just go away and you might end up getting much worse. Anxiety problems tend to make themselves worse over time as you become more and more concerned about if you appear nervous, and then you are nervous before it all starts.
Nip it in the bud!

I have that exact same problem. Whenever I feel the whole anxiety thing coming on I take these things we usually have lying around called "Stress-ez" or something. They have lots of things in them that make you feel calm..They have a horrible taste/smell to them but its quick. It's over the counter and stuff so if you find it it should be pretty easy to get! I hope you feel better with whatever you decide to do :)

Sounds like you need to talk somethings out with someone you trust (preferable older). We all feel anxious at times, and afraid. A good physical activity also can help; a sport you find fun, or just createing a game you can dissapear into may give some relief.

don't take benzo's as they are extremely addicted. I am under management for the same problem and Prozac is working wonders for me. but I would recommend seeing if there is a psychotherapist in your area. They can prescribe drugs but since they wan't to cure you not just deal with your symptoms they are going to offer you therapy as well as use the right kind of medication to make sure you get well. My girlfriend is a psychotherapist and she deals with teens all the time and they are all getting better. Good luck but be sure to get help and your regular doctor isn't specialized like a psychotherapist is so I would strongly recommend trying to find one of them.

Anxiety can be controlled by meds, but its best if your Dr. decides what meds are for you.Did you know that brisk exercise can help with anxiety. Also watch the amount of simple carbs you eat,a drop in blood sugar can bring on a anxiety spell also.

Doctors have a code of ethics...they also have a responsibility. Physician’s Rights and Responsibilities requires a physician to use proper care, skill and judgment while treating and to use due diligence. Patient's Rights and Responsibilities set forth by the Feds requires a patient to participate in their own healthcare and gives you the right to expect proper care to the limits of your physician's training.
In other words, if you want help, YOU are responsible to tell your doctor what is going on and ask him for help. HE is responsible to give you a proper exam and seek a proper diagnosis, followed by proper treatment. If you tell him what you told us, "frequent anxiety attacks, characterized by shaking, fear, crying and inability to control it" he would be lax in his duties if he did not either treat you or refer you. YOU have to speak up. Start with your parents and ask them to help you get proper treatment. They love you and won't deny you.
