I believe that it is soooo stupid that this is something that is going to the court system, supposedly they are charging Shilpa because she didnt stop him....how completely absurd. Have they seen the movies that are being released in Bollywood, with sex scenes, and adult topics, and not to forget the sleezy clothing that actresses are forced to wear. They have such a double standard.

India has very strong morality laws,and what he did broke them. Yes, the officials probably overreacted,but Gere should have familiarized himself with India's customs beforehand. Had he done that,all of this could have been avoided.

Because it's against their public decency laws to kiss a woman in public the way he did. And because some over zealous official there is likely seeking publicity.
