Mosquito larvae have hairs on their bodies: http://www.arbovirus.health.nsw.gov.au/areas/arbovirus/mosquit/photos/various_larvae.jpg and the are less than 1/2 inch long. They have to come to the surface to breathe: http://www.arbovirus.health.nsw.gov.au/mosquit/photos/oc_camp_larvae_group.jpg .
Tadpoles aren't hairy and will usually be bigger, although a few are small. The small ones will bee black: http://abc.net.au/science/scribblygum/june2004/img/tadpole.jpg , but bigger ones are usually brown or gray: http://www.marcusandmeagan.com/pics/tadpole.jpg

Tadpoles are black, mosquito larvae are white and worm-shaped. Mosquitos will hover vertically at the surface, tails up, because that is how they breathe. Tadpoles will actually swim, while the larvae mostly just wriggle about.

Mosquito larvae look like little worms that usually sit at the top of the water until it's disturbed, then they wiggle down. Tadpoles are much larger and look like a giant comma-- they have kind of round bodies with a tail like an eel.

Uh don't the tadpoles eventually eat the Mosquito Larve? When they mature??? Just keep them together! Unless your fishing for tadploes! Then usually tadploes have round heads, and a long tail, and are somewhat transparent in their natural enviornment. Mosquito larve are usually found in in pods floating they are very hard to see.
