Like the doc said, it depends what kind of B.C. pills your friend is taking. If they are regular B.C. pills, then the answer would be no. I suggest finding out & have your friend go see her doc. It wouldn't hurt for your friend to go talk to a professional, who can help her regulate or OCD.

But this mate does not even have the 7 day break when her period should arrive? I think if she has been taking the pill constanly for 8 years without a break she could maybe do some damage to herself but to be sure i would visit the docter.

Hell no! Thats not alright!
They tell you to take a break every month for a reason! I often take it for a few months without a break, but feel so awful knowing that im potentially messing up my insides.
8 years is far too long. A few months is too long. They only recommend continuous use if you know you will have a period during a holiday/specail occasion and you would rather not.
8 years!!!!!???? I cant get over that!

You mean never having a period for 8 years, or just taking the pill (even the placebos) for 8 years straight. If you meant the first part, then NO, if you meant the second, then yes.

I have read about this a few times and some say it is ok and some say it's not. I think the only thing you can do is ask your Dr. If you are in the UK and get repeat prescriptions then they will have it on record of when you should be asking for the next prescription and will know you are asking for it too early.

i am horrified to see a question like this ,i think you know the answer, it could do loads of damage to your insides. when i was younger i took the pill and was daft with it i come off it when i was thirty and got no periods had loads of tests and couldnt find the answer until a few years ago i had a tumour on my pituartry gland its not dangerous but no kids i am now 55 and wished the pill hadnt been invented. i know the pill is different now but its still messing with hormones

If you are talking about the progesterone only, or mini pill, it is fine, this is the correct way to use it. The combined pill, often called ' the pill 'must not be taken like this, it needs build up and shedding of endometrium. If taken continuously it increases cancer risk.

If it's essential medication, then yes.

Sorry, I misread the question. You mean THE pill. Well, that's a different matter entirely. You should get things checked every so often. It's hormones that are being mucked about with here.

You shouldn't take it every day any way should you but I read that it is not good to take the pill constantly for years any way so I would check with my GP if I were you.
