Disagree.
The eye-for-an-eye mentality does nothing to disuade the most common types of violent murderers: people who kill in the heat of passion and those who are criminally insane. There is no way to make sure you actually have the guilty party EVERY TIME. If you kill even one innocent person in the name of justice, you are just as bad as those you are attempting to punish.
It does not save any money to kill the criminals, either. The death penalty is much more expensive than life without parole because the Constitution requires a long and complex judicial process for capital cases.

Disagree. Your statement is too broad. Expanded? It is up to the individual states to determine if capital punishment should be used at all. The reason we use capital punishment is not because we want to punish the transgressor, but because it costs too much to keep them locked up for life. Killing someone because they have killed is not punishment. It is murder as well. Willfully taking the life of another human being, whether by lethal injection mandated by the state, of simply taking a gun and shooting someone are both murder. People who kill should be punished, yes, but lethal injection solves nothing. People who kill do not fear dying, they do, however, fear 60 years in prison. Time is prison is a deterent. Hard labor is a deterent. Lethal injection is not. It comes down to a question of what it is exactly that we wish to accomplish. Do we want revenge or do we want to deter murder. Make existense excrutiating for murderers, publicize the punishment, and instill in the minds of people that murder is truely punished, and that a person will not simply be put down.

I don't think it should be expanded.
If we could actually convict criminals and were 100% sure they did the crime and the death penalty was imposed, I think we should carry out that sentence within a day or two. Why wait? why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars housing, feeding, and caring for a person who was sentenced to die. We don't do this now because we (society) knows that juries make to many mistakes.
The problem with our system right now is, "Reasonable doubt".
Look, how many people get suckered by Internet scams, or other just obvious scams. Personally I'm losing faith in the average Americans intelligence. Innocent people are not suppose to go to jail, ever! 10 guilt people getting away with their crime is better than sending one innocent person to jail, or to death.

disagree
There is no proof that capital punishment has deterred violent crime in our society. In fact , it has brought on a possible lack of civility and lack of dignity for the human person . An eye for an eye is outdated and we should try everything we can to civilize our society with decency .If ,however after we have exhausted the process of rehabilitation and the prisoner still has no remorse for what he or she has done then may be that person has forfeited their right to live since they will not try to repent and reconcile with society.

I think violent murderers should be forced to live in a prison cell for the rest of their life, rather than being allowed to be put to death and have a way out of their miserable life.

Disagree...we are way behind in the times with our barbaric punishments. Most countries have abolished the death penalty, and we are trying to enforce it....we're going in the wrong direction
