I have a 1980 oldsmobile cutlass supreme, when i run my car for about a minute it dies. I looked under the hood and gas was pouring out of the spot where the throttle lever comes out of the carburator. the carb is a two barrel.

My suggestion would be, if you're somewhat mechanically inclined, is to remove the carb and get a rebuild kit from the auto parts store and rebuild it, cleaning it well with carb cleaner. Either the float is stuck or some of the gaskets/seals are leaking, or a combination of the two.

1) Float has a hole in it and it sank to the bottom of the carburator and is not pushing the needle up into the seat.

2) The needle or seat has swelled and won't stop the flow of gas.

Time for a rebuild with new floats. The floats are probably full of fuel and won't float anymore.
