I'm not really a fan of disco music, and although I was around back then, I never really had an appreciation for it and figured your favorite songs may help open my mind so that I can see that maybe disco wasn't so bad, after all. I'm guessing my favorite was "Stayin Alive" by the Bee Gees, which sounded great even this morning when I heard that high nasal voice:

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.

Ahhh come on...some of these answers i'll admit are decent radio tunes, but most of these are just basic pop music aka radio disco that was everywhere in the era. The real music and hits of the discos back in the day were nothing even close to alot of these. Although certain tunes from pop radio disco did cross over and get the play in their 12" remixed or extended versions...but they were not the main attraction.

Hell, the only Bee Gees tune to ever score the actual Billboard disco charts was "You Should Be Dancing" back in late 1976 (pre Sat Night Fever days).

Its hard for me to say what my fave disco tune is as there are so many brilliant productions and dancefloor fillers in the genre. But off the top of my head...a small handful of my alltime faves are:

Alec R. Costandinos "Romeo & Juliet" (1978)

Giorgio "From Here To Eternity/Utopia" (1977)

Cerrone "Supernature" (1977)

Seventh Avenue "Miami Heatwave" (1979)

Foxy "Get Off Your Ahhh And Dance" (1976)

Love & Kisses "I Found Love" (1977)

Amant "If There's Love" (1978)

I could probably make a list a mile long if I started going into the REALLY deep stuff...but those right there come from some of my faves of just the common club disco hits that made the club charts back then.

Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Donna Summer - Last Dance
Earth Wind & Fire - any song (more of disco & funk)

Those are some of my favorites. Although I'm not a fan of the disco culture, I can't deny that a lot of good music and singers came from the genre.

"I Will Survive" is a terrific song. I'm not a disco fan either.
