The main consideration is NOT inches per gallon but pound of fish per surface area measurement in a pond. Filtration will increase the amount the pond will hold, but only if it 1) supports a biological filter media and 2) aerates the surface of the pond and 3) draws water from the bottom of the pond to the top. All three conditions must be met to increase the holding capacity of the pond significantly. A 6000 liter pond that is well filtered and no more than 3' deep should hold about 10 adult Koi. Maybe a few more depending on the quality of filtration and over all shape of the pond. Always count a fish at adult size when calculating bioload for a pond, never at current size.

As long as the pond is being well filtered as described above the addition of extra air stones or pumps will not increase carrying capacity.

judging by the volume of your pond then you want a maz amount of 9 koi in there, perhaps only 6 if it is heavily planted,so many people have these so called koi ponds that are 2 foot deep and not ever so large, for keeping kopi you should have a minimum depth of 3 feet and fish should be stocked thinly as they do grow exceedingly quick given the correct environment and a good quality food.not so sure where the earlier details came from that koi grow to 3 feet in length i bet theres many reading that wish theirs would/could.incidentally i have a pond around the same volume that has 8 koi and i do not run a uv at all, i change my water plants at intervals depending on their condition and run a filter tank that is capable of managing a pond over 3 times the size of mine and i always have crystal clear water far better than some friends who have a good uv but a smaller capacity filter box.

Koi grow up to almost 3 feet in length and can live VERY long lives (one has been recorded as 200 yrs old!) So I wouldn't overstock your pond at all. The filter has to be about 33% of your volume...so something that will filter 2000 liters per hour.

Your pond is about 1600 gallons. Here are the recommended stocking levels:

Unfiltered - 5" per gallon
Pump fed filter - 10" per gallon
Elaborate filtration - 20" per gallon

Measure the fish at 30 inches for adult size.

confirm between the hoses hasn't slipped and is pumping water out of your pond, each now and then that style of leak is complicated to work out. you will possibly have a hollow on your liner, which you probable heavily isn't waiting to locate until eventually spring. i might genuine it off, yet verify to apply Aqua risk-free or yet another form that takes the chlorine/chloramine out of the water, it somewhat is numerous water to interchange. If it is going down lower back, you somewhat have a leak. The water point could desire to upward push rather because it freezes, yet with the aid of fact it won't freeze all a thank you to the backside, it heavily isn't substantial. in the adventure that your pond is a minimum of three ft deep in some unspecified time interior the destiny, koi somewhat do no longer want a heater until eventually you're in Alaska or someplace like that. They bypass all the way down to the backside and quite plenty hibernate. My pond did evaporate some, I actually have a waterfall, and it went down approximately 4 inches, yet I refilled it and the point hasn't replaced in view that in a month.
