There are people out there that say having to much stuff on you key ring is bad. Some how the weight on the ignition in the steering column does not like this. Is there any truth to that at all? I don't believe it.

the focus is a good example.
This would cause the steering lock .
I have drill out way too many lock cylinders on them and other models.
All do to too much on the key ring.
Ford had a tsb on this and if the key had too much on the key ring they would not fix under warranty.

It's true. The extra weight of an additional bunch of keys wears the ignition switch to a point where you may have trouble starting the vehicle. There is also the damage that swinging keys does to the steering column (scratches and wear marks). It is better to have your ignition key on a dedicated keychain. My advice is to get one of the snap-apart type keychains and just put the ignition key by itself.

Believe it, it's true. I wore out an ignition switch soo bad that the keys actually came out of it as I was making a turn. It got bad enough that you didn't even need the key to start the truck.
