saw someone reading a book which makes interesting reading and prob a great gift i can find it. the book being a guide for guys e.g. how to make essential cocktails, how to tie bow ties, etc i cant remember the name

There are non better than the myriad of writings done by an English author by the name of P.G. Woodehouse. Excellent reading about exactly that species!
