This is an ancient Greek epic poem.
Warrior Odysseus is returning home after the war at Troy, which his side won. But his ship is blown off course and it ends up taking him 20 years to get home. Meanwhile his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus wait faithfully for him, while other men try to get her to marry them. Odysseus and his crew have a series of fantastic adventures, and many are killed. But Odysseus finally gets home and takes charge.

Homer's Odyssey is in essence an adventure traveling story set in ancient (some say Grecian - although there is ample proof to the contrary!) times. It is based upon the ancients' beliefs in gods, demi-gods, all kinds of baddies (like the cyclops, etc.) and the search of mankind for wealth, love and fame (towards heroes, such as Odysseus - the hero of the stories.

its called the odyssey, and its by homer. thats about all i can answer, i just saw your question and noticed the error in the title of what you asked. it has been forever since i have read it, and i cant remember enough details about it to answer any further. sorry.
