This is the same thing as asking what's (3 x 2) - (1 x 2). The answer to that is (3 - 1) x 2 = 2 x 2 = 4. Apply the same principle to your problem:

(3 x √2) - (1 x √2) = (3 - 1) x √2 = 2 x √2.

Mathematically though, it would be written as this: 2√2.
