Now I am faced with dropping a new engine in it. Is it just water in the cylinders. Should I get a 2nd oppinion? How can I tell? Is there a tell tale sign, or significant sign that says without a doubt, oh yeah, put a new engine in it.

Update: Removed spark plugs. Engine IS locked up. Starter engages flywheel, the nothing. Could it be a rod? Could it just be a casual engine replacement at this point?

It could be hydrolocked.
Remove ALL the spark plugs, and crank the engine.

It sounds like from what you are saying that someone ran the engine for a little while with the coolant getting into the oil. The coolant will break down motor oil very quickly and can cause the engine to freeze up. You probably will need a new engine, but I would try removing all the spark plugs and see if it will turn over - if so, you may only need a head or head gasket. A second opinion would be a good idea - given what it will cost to fix your car.

Hi.If you take the spark plugs out, then try to turn engine over.If there is water in the cylinders it will come out of the spark plug holes. That would tell you it could be the cylinder head gasket or the head itself.Best of luck.Brian.

You have water in your oil. Could be the gasket needs to be replaced, or you have a cracked head. You can have the head checked.
If it is a cracked head, you can just replace it. Shop around get prices on heads verses motors. P>S> water in you oil is a bad sign.
