For your respondent above, the first one is correct, a<2

The second questions becomes 0<-40, so the statement is false, since there is no value of x that will make 0 < - 40 to be true.

Third question becomes x < 6

to graph on a number line place an open circle at -6, and a line that goes off to the left.

Question 1
3a < 6
a < 2

Question 2
3 - 3b + 6 < 13 - 3b + 18
9 - 3b < 31 - 3b
Error in question.

Question 3
5x + 20 - 2x - 12 ≥ 5x + 4
3x + 8 ≥ 5x + 4
4 ≥ 2x
x ≤ 2
x is not defined so cannot graph.
Is x a whole number?
If so can be shown on number line from at 2,1,0 ,-1,-2, - 3 etc.

3a + 8/2 < 10

2(3a) + 2(8/2) < 2(10)

6a + 8 < 20

6a + 8 - 8 < 20 - 8

6a < 12

6a / 6 < 12 / 6

a < 12 / 6

a < 2

- - - - - - - - -

3 - 3(b - 2) < 13 - 3(b - 6)

3 - 3b + 6 < 13 - 3b + 18

9 - 3b < 31 - 3b

9 - 3b + 3b < 31 - 3b + 3b

The coefficient and variables cancell no solution.

Just treat the inequality sign the same as an equals sign - it doesn't make any difference to the way you solve the equation.
