Isolation in assistance of Germany takeover?

I need proof of how isolation helped Germany to conquer and/or overtake oter countries. ( try and relate it to canadian history)

it doesnt necessarily have to be related to Canadian history... but by "isolation" i mean... how was the isolation of countries (or ppl) of help to Germany ... like how did the fact that some countries isolatin themselves (or gov't groups/ppl) help Germany to conquer nations and continue building its army even tho it had agreed with other nations that it would actually infact limit its army (it was secretly makin its army stronger while other countries were followin the Treaty everyone had signed)
