You can get a silver iPod Nano for the lowest price they have, and that'a a 2GB. They're thin and relatively small, and they have a screen.
Pros:
-thin and relatively small
-includes screen
-includes relatively good earphones
-includes USB cable/charger
Cons:
-cannot play videos
-not enough space for large music libraries (maximum amount of songs able to be held on a 2GB would be around 250 or 300 songs, depending on size and bitrate)
iPod Nanos come in different colors and disk spaces.
Silver- 2GB & 4GB
Blue - 4GB
Pink - 4GB
Green - 4GB
Black - 8GB
Obviously, the black Nano is the most expensive out of all of them. If you have only about 200 songs or so in your library, then a 2GB is the better way to go. However, if you intend to buy more CD's or music to add to your library, then maybe it would be better to get a 4GB, for abour 400-500 songs.
It's entirely up to you, there are no better iPods than iPods. There are just different kinds of iPods out there. More expensive, more cheaper, whatever.

Well all Ipods are players where you can put music on them..Shuffles are good...they are really easy to carry around..but if you want a screen go for a Video ipod..sure you may have to save money but you get a alot more. you can watch music videos and even TV shows without paying and it holds way more songs. But that would just be my opinion...IPods are good in any way.
p.s. i know 3 people whos IPod Nano broke...so dont get one of those

well i have had the video, and i currently have the nano. i like the nano better because it is so much smaller, and who needs 7500 songs on an ipod? but if you watch a lot of movies you may want to get the video ipod, even though the video ipod only plays a movie/music video for about 2 minutes. also with the nano you can pick colors but with the video you cant.

I think you should get a nano. They are small, light, easy to carry, and can hold up to 1,000 songs. They also have games and pictures. Personally, I think the Videos are too big! I have a nano and I love having it! i bring it everywhere, except school. The games it has are solitaire, a music quiz of your songs, brick, and 1 other one I forgot. In my opinion, iPod nanos are the best! They are $200 not with tax and trust me, you want a warranty. But to sum it up, get an iPod Nano!!!!!

Contrary to poplular belief, Apple is not best nor is iPod "The Best" It may be the most popular because of the millions and millions of dollars that have gone into advertising and plastering billboards for them.
If I were you, I would take a look at Creative's MP3 Prouct line as they are more affordable and better sounding then an iPod and are available in all types and sizes. Plus you don't have to use the horrible iTunes software if you get one of the Creative products!

okay i'm getting in on this question a little late but you should go with the 30GB video ipod its the best buy. you get the most GB per dollar. its cost 250 dollars for 30GB while the top nano is 150 for only 8GB so thats a huge difference of GB for only 100 dollars. its also a buy for the future the current ipod's will be around for years to come which means updates to the software and improvements from apple.
overall just go with the 30GB ipod

I recently purchased a refurbished 2 GB ipod nano from Apple's site for $99. I'm very happy with it and I saved 50% off from the original price and shipping was free. It holds 500 songs and you can save pictures and play games. You can choose the shuffle and pay $49 along with shipping, but I don't think it's worth not being able to see the songs you're selecting. Here's Apple's link to their refurbished ipods:

You can get a refurbished Nano and save about $50.00, then get an Apple 3 year warranty for about the same. Secondly, go to your electronics store, Best Buy, Circuit City ask for the repair man. Pose your question to him or her and they will tell you quick, what is a good buy as well as useful differences.

I have a nano and I love it, I got the one that can hold 1,000 songs on it, I don't need every single song ever made and you can change the playlists and songs daily ... it's tiny and easy to carry i usually use it walking around campus and at the gym, you can play games on it, watch videos, and even upload pictures from you camera and make slide shows with music ... I love it give it five stars
