Well if you tell it isn't a SECRET!!
Why not tell? Because we understand as humans that there are consequences for believing or acting in a certain way that opposes the status-quo. If we go gabbing, depending on what the secret is, we have a lot to lose, including the social perception that you can be trusted!
Just think, if you go around telling everyone your secret, would anyone trust you with THEIR secrets? I don't think so..

I have a secret about someone else that nobody knows but me. It will go to the grave with me...it is too serious and I never break promises that I can keep. Nope...won't tell it........going with me all the way.

Yes, I do, but I can't tell anyone because it involves several other people. When they all die I will tell the secret because it's been awful keeping it.

I do have a really big secret that no one but me (and the one other person it concerns) knows.....
It would be a big bombshell if it ever got out....but it never will.
[Oh....whatever.....
you know it will probably get out at Lt. Dan's next party if he starts lining up the jello shooters again)
....and I wasn't even a Level 4!

Most people know most things about me because I'm pretty open and have a big mouth. But there are certain thoughts I have that I will never tell anyone. I can't tell anyone because I don't know how they will react.

Yes I do, but it's a "good" one, and I don't want the other person to find out, so I can't tell anyone; friends, co-workers, etc.
