Not all Americans feel that way. But I do NOT think peace is going to work at all with the people who want all of us dead. Sometimes peace is not the answer.
Kill or be killed

It is not just Americans. You are a very narrow minded person.
Tribes of aboriginies in Africa kill in tribal disputes, Norwegians have killed in wars, Chineese kill, everybody kills.
And whoever made the statement that we live in a civilized society, wake up.
People are killed in the US, every minute of everyday. I don't mean in car wrecks either. This society is not civilized, and never will be. Most of the great peacemakers in history, were killed because of their efforts to bring about peace. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!! People have been killing since the dawn of time!!!!!! WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not saying it is right to kill, but to sit there and accuse AMericans of having a blood thirst that is uniquely American is a LIE. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do the terrorist in Iraq or insurgents or whatever you want to call them, think it is OK to kill Americans. Sit down at the peace table and talk it out!!!!! They also have a blood thirst.

Instead of asking this question about Americans, ask the question to Muslims to whom killing is part of their way of life and religion. Read the Koran with emphasis on the section called Jihad and then ask your question again. They have been killing others and each other for centuries and do not know another way of life. American do not kill for religion or for the sport. We fight back when we are attacked.

.
because that is how the United States became the United States.
For most of us, War is not Divine, nor necessary in a civilized society. Unfortunately, the Bush administration seem to believe that killing is the answer to everything. I am appalled that Condi Rice, the daughter of a so-called minister, finds nothing wrong with the genocide of her own people in Darfur (and YES they are brown and Black, just like her), much less that she approves of the killing of Iraqi innocent civilians, especially children.
Oh - I forgot.
Iraqis are brown people also.
She is useless., A lightweight.

(and btw. One of the most significant and wonderous things about a really strong and powerful nation is its leaders. But we look to leaders as people who have the ability to avoid wars. Not start them. We are not in the days of the Civil War or the Revolutionary War. We are a powerful nation, or at least we were. It does not matter what OTHER countries have done or are still doing. Everything is not measured in terms of weapons or gullible, easily led men of war.)

Depends on the question. Reminds of the slogan, "War is not the answer." Sure, depends on the question. Is it the answer to "What's for dinner?" NO. But is it the answer to combating state sponsored and supported terrorism, in Afghanistan, notice I didn't say Iraq, then yes it is the answer. Is turning the other cheek always the answer, sometimes, but not always. So I guess it isn't ALWAYS the answer.

1st I resent your implication that all Americans think killing is the answer. There is a large population in the US that have voiced their feelings about this. We were called unpatriotic and unAmerican. This did not shut us up. The situation as it stands at this moment is proof we were and are right. We will keep calling for peace.

I do not think killing is the answer to everything, but, if someone tries to kill me, I will do my best to kill that person before I am taken out!

We don't. Now time for a more accurate question: Why does the left believe surrender is the answer for every conflict?
