No, I think he was just showing you his respect. I would certainly ask his opinion, but the decision is ultimately yours because it is your body.
Glad you got the tattoo because that's what you wanted to do. Sounds like you have a husband who respects you as an individual rather than his subordinate.

Yes, I would have asked where you intended to have it. A red strawberry somewhere only I would see it would be acceptable. An ugly tattoo that branded you an idiot would have been unacceptable. If it's the former - I'll come and inspect it! lol
