Well, yes, I believe so. I grew up in Montana and know something of the history. Custer was still a hero in grade school, but somewhere along the way, he became an idiot in the history books!
The most interesting/relevant note to today is that Custer (and most of the rest of the military experts back then) never believed the Indian tribes would band together against the US-which of course they did. Many tribes were joined together by the US military treatment of them. The US showed a complete disregard for the Indians and broke treaty after treaty.

stay the coarse, after Custer died, others came along and killed the Indians or made them surrender. then the fighting ended, after we lop AL quida head off and make the others roll over and play dead, that is when we will win and finally be free of wacko Muslims

At least he kept his dignity, not making a complete idiot of hiself by saying it out loud for millions to see. He also kept his honor by having the balls to fight together with his troops.
