awesome trivia question?

name 2 countries with the first 3 letters the same, put them side by side, delete the 1st three letters of both countries and you will have the name of a famous river, what are the countries?

Close as I can get off top of my head is Chile and China.
Chi le- Chi na= nale. Not quite Nile but close.
