The first sign that what I have been saying is coming to pass. The conservative candidate won, won big and with a massive voter turnout. This is what is known as a mandate.

The same in going to happen in America in 2008. Just because the liberals are loud and over represented in the media does not mean that they are the majority.

Sixty one seats that the democrats won in congress were in areas that have always been strong republican. The democratic winners were the result of no shows among the angry republicans. Those republicans were angry that the party had gotten to moderate. But they will be back next time. Do you realize that the republicans only need 16 of those seats back to win the majority again? Very likely to happen.

In the Senate the Republicans only need one seat to tie. Don't forget that Democrat Senator Tim Johnson from South Dakota is still in rehab from his brain hemorrhage. He probably will not be able to return. Then there is Joe Lieberman who was thrown under the bus by the democrats.

Recent news is that the democrats are about to cave in to president Bush and send up an emergency spending bill for the war minus the withdrawal date and that has caused Moveon to send the democrats a threatening message.
Do we see cracks forming in the democratic facade? I think so.

I'm going to give this guy a chance. I think France is at a crossroads and really needs to take a strong stand on a number of issues. Hopefully, he'll be the man to lead them in difficult times.

Ironic that the French president will support the US far more than the Speaker of the US House of Representatives does.

I think the French have now reached the stage that the British did in 1979. Enough is enough as far as the unions are concerned. I think that he will tighten up on immigration and thus weaken any challenge from Le Pen. Good luck to him and I hope we will learn something too.

I think it is great. The Americans are getting more liberal and France is getting more reasonable. Maybe I will move there

Somewhat surprising that he is going to be the new president, but then again, I am not too surprised! I really do not think it matters much, the French will still hate us with a passion!
