So the illegals can come and go as they please? I'm sure more would come than actually go.

I support a border fence and no amnesty for illegals.

What do you fear from open borders? Terrorists, Mexicans, or Canadians? Why do you fear more immigration into the US?

We need a more coherent policy to manage our borders, immigration, and "homeland security." We have some fences, border guards, and volunteer minutemen watching the border. It's not effective. Rather than spending an absurd amount of money on more fences and guards, why don't we look at how we can manage security with open borders.

I don't think that the US "should" have open borders, but I think we can be safer if we start with open borders and look at how we can build homeland security around the open borders.

My senior thesis covered this topic so I am very fluent in this issue. Let me give you the overall summary of what I concluded.

Immigration is a huge part of American history. Essentially we are all immigrants, except for the Native Americans. Back in the early 1900s when we had an influx of Jewish, German, and Irish migration, people were saying the exact same thing about them as we do to undocumented people today.

On an economic perspective, there is actually an increase in the Gross Domestic Product for states that have a higher influx of immigrants. As for social programs, authors such as Douglass Massey and George Borjas have concluded that immigrants are extremely less likely to accept programs such as welfare or public assistance. In addition, foreign born immigrants are also less likely to be incarcerated than that of someone who is a resident citizen of the U.S. In addition, these new undocumented workers are paying tax dollars (federal, state, social security, county, etc) and they don't collect. Even more so, these new influx of workers have helped put into a social security system that right now is failing and won't be there for when it's time for us to collect.

Immigration is just a cycle of life, after these new immigrants (Mexican immigrants) become absorbed into society, the trend will be to find another culture/groups to ostracize.

Remember what the statue of liberty says and what immigrants first saw when they sailed to the U.S.

: "Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" -Statue of Liberty

Do you think we should pay the air fare for Al-Qeada too? Maybe purchase their IED's for them too!

Take the locks off the vaults and doors to all banks also.

Maybe pass out matches for those who wish to burn the Constitution.

And you are correct, we would have millions more in this country living off taxpayers!
Maybe we should give a million dollars to each person who walks across the border too. I am sure we can get even more to come in. It would be a great incentive for them to leave. SO THEY CAN COME BACK AGAIN.

Do you lock your doors in your apartment? Or do you live in mommy's home? You must have no property to think like this.

No, the U.S shouldn't have open borders. But tell that to the corporate global capitalist and those who want to drive down American wages and economy. Tell that to George W. Bush.
