Hi, I'm a bit stuck on when something is sulphate and and when something is sulphide.
I know you would say copper sulphate as a reaction with sulphuric acid, but I'm stuck as to why.
Thanks.

Sulfate involves the polyatomic ion SO4 (2-).

Sulfide involves a compound with just S (2-) as the anion.

p.s. there is also sulfite SO3 (2-)
