How should i convince my parents to let me get my belly button pierced?

I am 14. I have asked for about over a year now and my mum just doesn't want me to get it done because she doesn't like the fact that it is my belly button. She says she is squirmish of it. However it is my belly button so shudn't i be able to get it done? About 3 of my close friends also have it done

As others have said, you are a little young so best to wait. Plus why do it just because friends have.

I know these are not the answers you were after but just think...we are probably all older than you and have gone past the stage were we feel we have to deface ourselves for attention. Now we can see how unimportant it is and how it really isn't worth doing.

There is nothing wrong with getting it done, but be aware of the problems it can cause and the fact that in a few years time you will be trying to cover it up or take it out. Wait until you are older and then if you still want it done go for it.

Your parents aren't being awkward. They just don't want their girl making a mistake that she doesn't need to.

Hello,,I'm a Mom of an 8 and 19 year old boys and 2 girls, ages 12 and 13, and my daughters too have been bugging me for about a year too. I will not let them have one because they are too young and I really don't want anybody looking at their bellybutton at 12 and 13. i know it's the in thing and I know they're pretty and cute. I've heard all of the reasons why they're "Cool Mom" and I still won't let them get one until at least 15-16. I figure a belly button ring is for show and my daughter is not going to walk around with her belly showing. She's very slender and tall and it will just attract boys! I know like That's the whole point huh? Lol,,I don't mean to be a witch. I think it was cool of you to ask about it. But as a Mom, I don't think you'll be able to talk her into it unless she gives in, which I don't plan to do. Have a really good reason why you want a belly-button pierce. Not because of your friends because that's just lame. I'm not going to be all pushy and stupid. I'm giving you a straight up answer. It's stupid to want a belly-pierce at the age of 14. What's stupider is that you keep asking for it when she simply doesn't want you to have it. Piercing your belly can give you infections and the like. Suck it up and wait until you're older.

I had the same problem...except I was 13. I convinced my mom by saying I'll keep making my good grades and stay A-B student for the rest of the year. I made a deal with her. Also you could try saying I heard it was just like a little pinch and doesn't hurt at all. My mom was really squirmish by me getting it done too. I also said..mom is it really that big of a deal. It's basically like getting your ears pierced except it's on my stomach.
Hope that helped a little. If she still says no just do it when your 15 or 16.

im 13 and i was askin my mum to have it done for just over a year , she kept saying i could get it done at the weekend and when the weekend come she would just make up a reason not to take me , i asked her nicely just before christmas and she said ok then as a christmas present , but boxing day she said she didnt want me having it done because she also was squirmish , she didnt like the thought of a needle being stuck through my belly , but i said ok then i will get someone else to take me , so i aksed my auntie and she said she would take me on the wednesday after and my mum was fine about it , she gave me the money on the wednesday morning and i went off and had it done !!!! if your mum wont let u have it done just save up and ask a friends mum to take you and dont show your mum it lol , or just ask her if u can have it done and u will get another family member to take u!! , i was really nervous at first and read up about it gettin infected but i took a chance and ive had it done now nearly 5monthes and love it :) as long as you clean it a couple of times every day it should be fine :)!!!!!

Just beg and explain why you want it done and also explain it's your life you only get it once so shouldn't you be able to do what you want to do in it? Try and get an inconent where your mum wanted something like that and say stuff like well how would you feel etc. Hope this helps!

Sorry to tell you this but your too young and it is not a good idea. It can leave a nasty scar when you take it out in the future, because i can bet you a million dollars you will not want it for life. Its not a good idea for now. Wait until your 16. If that seems too long or you think you cannot wait then your not mature enough for it anyway.

You can get infections and your body will reject it. Say that you that's the last peircing you'll ever have or do 5 months of chores. Later on, it won't look pretty. Trust me my sister has one and it's ugly. She had infections.

if your mother objects to it, i'm pretty sure she has a good reason for it. whatever you do, don't go behind her back and have it done. you'll be in alot of trouble if you do. just wait, it's not that big of deal.

Hey, you gotta convince them that you want it done for you, not just to fit in. you gotta trust me on this one, i am experienced in this area. my step-dad had this no-make up rule because we "need to be ourselves, not be just like evry 1 else" i convinced him that i wouldn't change if i started wearing make up and that i wouldn't go totally overboard. K? u gotta do it for u, not for everyone else. i hope i was helpful just remember:DO NOT GO BEHIND YOUR MOM'S BACK. it will just make matters worse. she won't trust u if u do.
