From Euler's Formula, we know that V + F - E = 2.

So 13 + F - 17 = 2 <=>
13 - 17 + F = 2 <=>
-4 + F = 2 <=>
-6 + F = 0 <=>
-6 = -F <=>
6 = F

Euler's formula for a simple polyhedron is F - E + V = 2, where F is the number of faces, E is the number of edges, and V is the number of vertices.

F - E + V = 2
F - 17 +13 = 2
F - 4 = 2
F = 6
