Of course you can. In fact, you can be logged into two different Yahoo Accounts at the same time. One account through FireFox and the other through IE.
You see, some websites won't with with FireFox, since a website might be made with ActiveX. In fact, Windows Updates will only work through IE.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

I am running them both at the same time right now.. I like Firefox better than IE.. but since I am on Vista Ultimate, I use certain things through IE but Firefox is the browser that I like the most... Plus you have better plug-ins to use with Firefox than you do with IE 7.0 at this point...
Sometimes though if you are on a subscription based service on both names, it can cause of conflict if they are tracking one log in.. even though you are on the same IP and all that, it can trick the system at times.. so be careful if you belong to any web subscriptions (I don't know which ones there are problems with, just something that an IT guy I knew told me about once when he told me I should just use Firefox solely)

Yes, you can have them both. I tested Internet explorer 7 together with mobile firefox and let them both do a search. They work at the same time. So enjoy

Yes, you can. Personally, I would use mozilla firefox as a default browser but you'll have the option to choose.

Sure, why not. You can also install an explorer extension in firefox, so that you can see IE-pages within the firefox browser as if it were explorer

Yes.
In fact, it's recommended. IE should only be used to get Windows Updates, IMHO.
