I'll probably get a few thumbs down for this but here goes...Personally i don't agree that you should be able to get breast enlargements on the NHS...my cousin has recently had to have a double mastectomy because of breast cancer...i appreciate the way you feel, i really do, but i think there may be alot of women out there that have had a breast or breasts removed through illness and would give anything to be in your position...no matter how bad you think it is, it could be worse :)

I really think they should only pay for an enlargement only if it is because of a horrible accident or is a breast reconstruction.

Trying to have health care pay for something that happens naturally to your body that is not affecting your health (i.e. back pain, leg pain, etc) to me is wrong. Your reasons are purely elective.

Cosmetic procedures like this are now seldom available on the NHS. You can go to your GP and he will refer you. In most areas women seeking this type of procedure are now referred for psychiatrist assessment to see if there condition is ' medical enough ' to justify NHS management. Most are rejected, certainly in my practice area.

i think you can have it done on the nhs if it is having a seriously adverse affect on your life and mental wellbeing your first point of call should be your gp who will be able to advise you further and will know the situation in your particular area

takes about 2 years on the waiting list after a pain staking task of convincing them that it is effecting your HEALTH, not your looks (your depressed, mentally unhappy ect.). but mum got it on the nhs for the same reason as you about 12 years ago. and my boss went in to have hers last week!

oh, and both of mine had theirs done at the Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford at their Plastics and Burns unit.

the papers today say that the NHS is going to have to ration some treatments like cosmetic surgery -

yes this has been done and to be honest its a farce, the nhs should not be paying for cosmetic surgery of this nature. so what if you have small or saggy t!ts, if you dont like them pay for surgery!

if it has a detrimental affect on your mental health it is possible.
i knew a woman, who, after 3 kids had her breasts lifted, as it caused her to develop depression, because she was so self-conscience
