Ok first you will have to read the documentation with your router. You will have to log into the router using IE or similar software. Type in the address which is usually 192.168.15.1 or something similar (found in your documentation). Once in the router look for wireless. When you locate that choose the security section and enable WEP. At this point you can choose your keyword/password. I would also advise you to change the name of the wireless to something you can recognize easily. Should set you a secure wireless connection when you apply.

Making it secure:

1. Disable the SSID
2. Use WPA encryption
3. Enable MAC filtering and only allow the MAC addresses that you have in use.
4. Disable the DHCP.
5. I would recommend to have a small firewall (usually costs somewhere between $100 to 250). It is quite worthwhile.

your linksys comes with an automatic SPI firewall, having said that when you hook on your router enable encryption, but honestly if you're using it at home it's not really necessary, i know that people say that you can be hacked , but unless some one is extremely computer literate and has a thing for you specifically it just won't happen.......

read about WPA encryption in your Router Manual.

Call Linksys if stuck.
