I recently got a new job in Finance, I was looking for a new job and desperatly needed one, because I was laid off from my previous job, which was in Marketing/Consumer Prodcuts. As I sent out resumes I was not getting the responses I thought I would....so I took this job in Finance. Its been 2 weeks and now all of a sudden I received 2 calls for interviews for jobs I had applied for beforehand.

What should I do? Should I go to these interviews? What should I tell my new boss who is extremely nice. Should I call out sick when I go to the interviews? THere is one job that I am really interested in knowing about....and they want an hour of my time....I feel so guilty. Waht should I do? Also, I feel obligated to this job that I just got and have been working for. The job I am at now is ok...but its not my passion. Please advise...thanks so much!

It always happens that way, as soon as you get a job all of the other places that you have applied to all of a sudden want to call you in for an interview.
If i were you, i would make sure that i get an interview time early in the morning; if the hiring co. is really interested in you they will work with you on that. Simply tell your boss that you are having car trouble, i.e your car will not start.

I would at least go to the interview for the job that interests you most.

Your feelings of obligation to your current employer are admirable. However, if you decide to quit to 'follow your passion" keep in mind that they still have the resumes of the other applicants, and can likely get up to speed quickly on filling the position.

Besides, perhaps you go to the interview, and the job is not the job of your dreams, or they don't offer you the position. If that happens, you don't have to make any big decisions, and you won't wonder for the rest of your career what you might have missed.

Be honest and explain the situation to your boss. Tell him you want to go to the interview. It is better for the boss to know so he can be prepared in case you do decide to accept the new job. He needs time to find a replacement for your position. Do not burn any bridges behind you when you leave one job for another. Always leave on good terms. You never know when you might want to come back.

well tell your boss about this....if he is nice then he will let you check them out and go to the interviews.....if this isn't your passion then check out the other places and see if that catches your passion.......go to the interviews.....if one of them is your passion tell your boss and maybe he will be nice enough to let you try it out or whatever for a few days......go for it!!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
