A variocele is simply an accumulation of fluid in the vas deferens, it is a little problem and a surgeon will drain the fluid, and things will be back to normal. As a physician, I am rather surprised that your doctor resorted to a scan (at greater cost to you or your health insurer). This is not uncommon and a physical examination should have yielded the same diagnosis. Yes, do go to the surgeon and have the liquid drained, but I would strongly suggest a different physician for the future. He has caused un-neccessary anxiety and expense to you.

Varicocoele is enlargement of veins around spermatic cord (testicular, epididymis and cremastric). Because of increase in temperature of testicle sthe sperm count goes down and that is the cause of infertility. However it is treatable and person recovers fully in most cases unless it is due to malignancy which is extremely rare. Go ahead with the operation and he will be alright. Wish you a very happy married life.

Varicoceles are really nothing more than varicose veins in the testicals. They of course vary in size. However, the concern is that they will get larger in time. The smaller they are the easier they are to repair. Some physicians believe that having thgem may cause difficulites having children and a number of medical experts agree.

Not sure what it is exactly, but I found that it is treatable / curable with an outpatient procedure. To get more information about this condition, check out AskPhysicians.com, and go with your husband to see the surgeon.
